Felicia S. Turner Former Member Of A Georgia Bankruptcy Law Firm, Appointed U.S. Trustee For Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Felicia S. Turner of Dunwoody, Ga., has been appointed United States Trustee for Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands (Region 21), it was announced today by Lawrence Friedman, Director of the Executive Office for United States Trustees. Turner’s appointment takes effect today.

“Felicia Turner is an excellent addition to the U.S. Trustee Program’s management team,” Friedman stated. “Her energy and expertise will prove invaluable to this large and very important region.”

“I am very pleased to be joining the Program at such an exciting time,” Turner stated. “The Program has built a great record of success in combating fraud and abuse in the bankruptcy system. I look forward to working with the outstanding staff of Region 21 to invigorate that effort even more.”

Immediately before her appointment as U.S. Trustee, Turner was a partner in the Atlanta-based law firm Troutman Sanders LLP, where she was a member of the bankruptcy practice group and the litigation section. Before joining Troutman Sanders in 1999, she was a bankruptcy associate with the Owensboro, Ky., firm Sullivan, Mountjoy, Stainback & Miller PSC, where her work ranged from representing debtors and creditors in consumer cases to serving as counsel for Chapter 11 debtor Big Rivers Electric Corp.

Turner is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Bankruptcy Committee and Commercial Financial Services Committee, and has been vice chairman of its Creditors’ Rights Subcommittee. She is also active in community affairs, including serving as Professional Division Portfolio Manager for the United Way Campaign in Owensboro and as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) board member and attorney.

Turner received her law degree from Duke University School of Law in Durham, N.C., and her undergraduate degree in mathematics magna cum laude from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.

The United States Trustee Program is a component of the Justice Department that protects the integrity of the bankruptcy system by overseeing case administration and litigating to enforce the bankruptcy laws.

The Program has 21 regions and 95 field offices. Region 21 is headquartered in Atlanta with additional offices in Macon and Savannah, Ga.; Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee, and Tampa, Fla.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
